About Boughton Engineering
Boughton Engineering is Britain’s longest established designer and manufacturer of hook loaders, skip loaders and close coupled trailers. The original Boughton business was founded in 1897 – and has been at the forefront of original innovation, design engineering and development ever since, manufacturing transport equipment and products, many of which are today still regarded as industry best practice. Together with its Oldbury UK division, Boughton can boast over 250 years of engineering and manufacturing excellence.
Its headquarters and main engineering, manufacturing and production facility covers a 2.5 acre site in Wolverhampton. Boughton’s specialist bespoke engineering and military products division, Oldbury UK, is co-located on the same site. The company’s advanced modern fabrication operation is located in North Devon and, as part of its growth and investment strategy, it also currently operates secure satellite vehicle engineering facilities elsewhere.
Today, Boughton Engineering is part of privately owned Skan Group Holdings Limited, a family concern, committed to the long term and sustainable success of its businesses and its people. Since the Boughton business was acquired in 2011, the organisation has seen significant growth and change. This has included major investment in new facilities and equipment, development of its service and parts operations, the introduction of new products and expansion of its industry specialised management team and highly skilled workforce.
This reflects both the commitment and vision of the Skan Group, to be the leading provider and centre of excellence for engineered solutions for its chosen specialist market sectors. These include wastes handling, defence products and specialist engineering.
The company’s achievements have been recognised with a number of awards including, most recently, the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Award for Excellence in Manufacturing.
